Driver explains: "I work night shifts and on my journey home one morning I must have closed my eyes
just at the wrong moment. I didn't feel tired at all until I got on to a quiet
back-road about two miles from my home. My head had nodded a couple of times but
since I was so close to home and there was nowhere to stop I carried on. Next
thing I knew I had a wheel up on the grass bank and was dragged in to a hedge
before I could react, finally coming to a stop against a tree which fortunately
was flattened and probably took out some of the impact.
Thankfully I was unhurt and the owner of the hedge did not complain! The
insurance company considered it repairable so 6 weeks and 5,500 UK pounds later
I had my car back."
