A 48-year-old (Dimech) was behind the wheel of the yellow Ferrari with a convoy as part of a club car rally through the area. He was going 82km/h at the bend despite an advisory sign warning drivers to slow down to 45km/h per hour at the corner. The speed limit for the road was 70 km/h. Dimech lost control and the car swerved and ended up partly on the wrong side of the road, crashing into a Ford Falcon. The passenger in the Ferrari was a 33 year old mother who sadly died in the accident. The pair had only been dating a few months at the time of the crash.
