BMW X-Series X5
San Jose, CA

A driver in San Jose won the life’s lottery this week. An image circulating online shows a black BMW X5 with what appears to be a metal beam impaled into the front windshield. According to firefighters who responded to the distress call, a metal tray loader flew off the back of a truck and lodged right between the two front seats barely missing the driver. The report says the driver walked away with a scratch to his arm. The San Jose Fire Department said the BMW was following a vehicle that was carrying a ramp. The ramp fell off the truck, bounced off the freeway and launched into his windshield. The spokesperson, fire Capt. Christopher Salcido, told the Chronicle: “Had the person been a little more to the right, it would have impaled him,” Salcido said. “It looks like he not so much dodged a bullet, but dodged a large beam of metal.” An image tweeted by San Jose Firefighters Local 230 simply read: “Reminder Always be alert to your surroundings. Solo driver SB280 escaped with only a scratch.” The accident happened around noon on southbound Interstate 280 near the Saratoga exit.
